- What is video interviewing?
- Video interviewing is a means of interviewing in which the student and recruiter can speak face to face via computer. Video interviewing enables you to interview prospective employees without leaving your office. It is an affordable alternative or supplement to on- campus interviewing.
- When should our company consider this?
- Do you have a small recruiting budget?
- Do you have limited time to visit many campuses?
- Are you looking for an easy way to pre-screen students?
- Are you seeking students in a small department?
- Are you worried about airline weather problems?
- Would you like to preview our students before making a trip to campus?
- Are you interested in interviewing students for a company scholarship?
- Perhaps video-interviewing is the solution for you. All of these reasons are good ones for using this video-conferencing technology.
- Is this cost effective?
- Even with a full day's schedule, your costs will be significantly less than they would be for a trip to campus. If you consider airfare, meals and lodging, and time out of the office, video-interviewing can greatly reduce these costs.
- Are students actually hired this way?
- Yes! The first year that Michigan Tech offered video-interviews, about six companies participated. Of these, one company interviewed six students, extended offers to four, and had three acceptances. This is an excellent success rate, and we would like to give your company the chance to have this happen too.
