Programming Developer (11/3/09)
ITOxygen, a part of Michigan Tech's Enterprise program, is looking for programmers willing to join an enterprise. ITOxygen works on designing software for non-profits companies/organizations. Some of the companies we've worked for include Lake Linden City Board, Big Brothers Big Sisters, IBM, Boy Scouts, The Nature Conservatory and many others. Student Assistant System Administrator (11/2/09)
Division: System Administration Services, Michigan Tech University
Title: Student Assistant System Administrator - (2) positions available
Pay-Rate: Between $7.40 - 8.00/hr starting
Description: Entry level student position. This position will assist current full time System Administration staff perform day-to-day tasks related to the maintenance of the MTU Administrative Departments workstations and applications. You work as a team with 16 other students and the full time staff. This is a 10-15hr/week position during the school year, possibly more in the summer.
Description of SAS:
System Administration Services (SAS) is the department that takes care of computer workstations and software for the majority of the Administrative departments at Michigan Tech. We take care of around 600 machines, and even more people. Providing excellent levels of customer service is our primary goal. We help users with installing applications, diagnosing problems, building new machines, fixing broken machines and pretty much anything to do with Technology and the user.
We work 8-5 Monday thru Friday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Work on Windows and Mac application and workstation support
- Resolve support requests in our WebRT (Request Tracking System), relating to customer requests.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, both on Windows and Mac workstations.
- Assist other administrators in maintaining standard software and workstation configurations.
- Assist other SAS staff as needed.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Knowledge of installing, maintaining, and diagnosing Windows XP/Vista or Mac OSX based workstations in an office environment.
- PC hardware maintenance/repair experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment.
- Active Drivers License and good driving record
- Experience with Windows Network File Sharing protocols.
- Experience scripting in some administrative language (Batch, Perl, Visual Basic, etc).
- Experience training users in complex topics, and making presentations to an internal audience.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently without direct supervision and manage multiple concurrent projects effectively.
