MTU eRecruiting Interview Sign-up Instructions
The following instructions will help you with the recruiting function of MTU eRecruiting. In eRecruiting, you are able to view the on-campus recruiting schedule, sign-up for open interview times, request to be considered for closed interviews, view your resume referral history, and see all of your recruiting activity for the recruiting season.
Log-on to your eRecruiting account from a web browser using your username and password. Click on the "Jobs & Internships" section of the gray menu bar at the top of the screen. From this area you can search for jobs and internships using a variety of criteria. When the search results are returned, a schedule icon will appear next to jobs for which on-campus interviews are scheduled. Click on the job or internship you are interested in and look to see if it is a closed or open schedule. You can also do this same step from the "Employers" section if you wish to search for a specific employer.
- Closed Interviews
- Closed interviews differ from Open Sign-up interviews in that employers review the resumes of students who have applied and choose those students they wish to invite to interview.
- After reviewing the job or internship description and application instructions, click on "Apply," to view and apply for the position.
- You will then be asked to select a resume and other documents. A resume is required to apply. After selecting the correct documents, click on "Submit." If you have not yet uploaded a resume, click on the "Documents" section of the gray menu bar.
- The employer may have additional screening questions. If these appear you must answer the questions to continue.
- If the employer has requested certain qualifiers, you may only see jobs or internships for which you meet their requirements, i.e., major, degree, work authorization, graduation date and GPA. The system will inform you if you do not meet the qualifications.
- Once you have met the qualifications a status box will appear listing the employer, the job or internship, and your status as "Undecided." The employer will review your resume and application and either invite you for an interview or decline. You will receive an email informing you of the decision and, if accepted, asking you to select an interview time.
- Check Application Status
- Once you have received an email inviting you to sign up for a closed interview, return to the MTU eRecruiting site and login. After you login you will see a red exclamation point and the words "Application Activity." Click on "View Your Application Details."
- The screen will list the jobs and internships you have applied for and your status. Click on "Details/Sign up.." You will now be asked to sign up or decline the invitation. Click your selection.
- If you decide to sign up for an interview, the interview schedule will appear and you can select an open slot. Be sure to review the interview details and dates at the bottom of the page and then click "Save."
- Open Sign-up Interviews
- Open Sign-up interviews differ from Closed interviews in that you immediately select a time slot. Companies will interview all students who have signed up on the schedule.
- After reviewing the job or internship description and application instructions, click on "Apply," to view and sign up for an interview date and time.
- You will then be asked to select a resume and other documents. A resume is required to apply and a cover letter, targeted to the employer, is recommended.
- Once you have met the qualifications the interview schedule will appear and you may select your interview date and time. Be sure to note any details or important dates listed at the end of the page. Remember to click the "Save" button, which will enter you into the schedule and make the job viewable under "Applications."
