Cancellation and No Show Policy
- Cancellations
- Students have busy schedules and sometimes unavoidable conflicts arise that prevent you from attending an interview. When this happens, please do the following:
- Try cancelling your interview through eRecruiting if possible.
- If it is too late to cancel an interview through eRecruiting, call the Career Center at (906) 487-2313 to cancel your interview.
- Please give at least 24 hours notice so that another student can be given your interview slot.
- No Shows
- If you miss an interview without notifying the Career Center ahead of time, this puts you, the company, and Michigan Tech in a difficult position. The number of no shows is an important factor that companies consider when they decide at which campuses they wish to recruit. Too many no shows jeopardizes interviews for all students.
- If you miss an interview, here is what you need to do:
- Write a letter of apology to the company explaining what happened.
- Bring a copy of your letter and a stamped envelope containing the company address to one of the Career Center staff.
- After reviewing your letter, our staff will mail your letter and you will be able to sign up for future interviews.
- Not showing up for an interview is considered a serious action by the company and the Career Center. Your name will be marked in our database when this occurs, and you will be unable to request additional interviews until you have taken action to correct the situation.
- Note:
- Check your interview times carefully to be sure you do not mix up the day or time and miss an interview.
- eRecruiting can email you a reminder the day before an interview.
- If you do miss an interview, you may still attend other interviews you have scheduled, but you may not request additional interviews until you have written the company.
- If you are having trouble attending scheduled interviews for any reason, please come in and see us so we can help you address this situation. We would like to see all Tech students have as many interview opportunities as possible.
