- Overview
- Each year the Career Center coordinates thousands of interviews with both students and recruiters. Students at Michigan Tech have a unique opportunity with hundreds of companies traveling many hours to interview students right here on Michigan Tech's campus. In 2000-2001, the number of interviews conducted were over 4,000 with many more slots available that went unfilled. There will NEVER be an easier opportunity to have an interview and get a job than there is right here on campus. If you leave Michigan Tech without participating in the on-campus interview process, you will soon realize the opportunity you missed while job searching on your own. You can do it on your own, however it is much more convenient and efficient while you are here.
- On-campus interviews are a means for recruiters to screen candidates that match their organizational culture and business plan. These first interviews, while sometimes leading to job offers, normally lead to plant trips or second interviews. Most on-campus interviews last for a half hour and are conducted throughout various rooms around campus.
- Before interviewing with a company, find out everything you can about the company, including product lines, services offered, plant locations, names of executives, financial data, and more. Many times companies recruiting at Michigan Tech will host an informational meeting in the MUB, Dow Buidling, and other places. Make sure to attend the informational meeting and find out everything you can before the interview. This also gives you a chance to talk with the recruiters and find out more about the people working there.
